I've encountered the CTraidassist addon when in raids sometimes, and I might have it installed, but perhaps it wasn't configured correctly, because I only got heaploads of spam. What does it do really? Is it a must?

CTRA was one of the most useful mods around for a raid... However Blizz has added a few of its features into the existing game with the existing patch, so I'm not sure how necessary it is. As I remember it, aside from the Raid Leader addons (which caused the leader to spam crazily with warnings and orders, which was interestingly very useful), the main parts of CTRA which were extremely useful were: - the ability to display all members' health/mana/status bars, much like dragging them from the raid menu but larger and hence more easily kept track of. - the ability to run a ready check instead of 40 people spamming "r". - the designation of raid leaders who, when quiet mode was enabled, would be the only ones able to speak in /ra. - the raid leader's name being displayed in yellow in chat. - /ra allowing for text to be shown across the screen, making warning messages much easier to see. - the ability for the raid leader to check everyone's durability/FR etc. There was some other stuff too... But I don't remember it all. I think I shall DL it again, at least...

The most useful thing about it is you can assign multiple MT's and see their target, and if you wish, their target's target. This is useful as it helps dps people to focus on the right mob in chaotic situations. WoW's ui has come a long way towards replacing CTRA but i don't think it's quite good enough yet.

oh, and for healers it also has an emergency monitor which shows up to 5 people with the lowest health in the raid who you can click on to heal. Very useful in healing aoe situations. And also a resurrection monitor to show who is resurrecting who so you can avoid two people trying to res the same guy which wastes time.
